Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 17, 2026

1. Overview

Stoop Sitters LLC ("Stoop," "we," "us") operates the Stoop platform ("the Platform"), a marketplace connecting families with independent caregivers including sitters, nannies, and tutors. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the Platform, you consent to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Account information: name, email address, password (hashed), and date of birth when you register.
  • Profile information: role (parent or caregiver), location/neighborhood, bio, hourly rate, experience, certifications, availability, and a profile photo you choose to upload.
  • Child information: names, nicknames, likes, dislikes, allergies, routines, and photos you add to child profiles. This information is visible only to you and caregivers you have agreed to work with.
  • Job and application content: job postings, applications, messages, and updates you create on the Platform.
  • Background check information: when you request or consent to a background check, identifying details are passed to our third-party screening provider to process the check.
  • Reports: details you submit when reporting another user.

Information collected automatically:

  • Device identifiers, approximate location, usage data, and logs that help us operate, secure, and improve the Platform.

Payment information for subscriptions and background-check fees is collected and processed by our payment provider, Base44 Payments. We do not store your full card details on our servers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: create and manage your account; match families with caregivers; display profiles, jobs, applications, and messages; process subscriptions and background-check fees; send transactional and account notifications; provide the "Updates" feed between agreed families and caregivers; investigate reports and enforce our Terms; comply with legal obligations; and maintain the safety, security, and integrity of the Platform.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share information only as necessary to operate the Platform and as described here: between users (profiles, messages, and updates you choose to share, and child information only with caregivers you have agreed to work with); service providers who help us run the Platform (payment processing, email delivery, background checks, and hosting), who are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations; legal compliance where required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Stoop, our users, or others. We never sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Platform. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your profile data, posts, and associated content in accordance with our retention schedule, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal, accounting, or safety reasons.

6. Your Privacy Choices

You can update or correct your profile information at any time from the Profile screen. You may delete your account and associated data from Profile → Danger Zone → Delete Account, which is a permanent, irreversible action. You can manage notification and communication preferences within the app. If you are a California or other U.S. resident, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or limit the use of your personal information; contact us using the information below to exercise these rights.

7. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for adults. Stoop is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Child information added to a family profile (such as a child's name or photo) is submitted and controlled by the parent or guardian account holder and is shared only with caregivers the family has agreed to engage. Stoop does not use child information for marketing or profiling.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Row-level access controls limit which users can view or modify records belonging to others.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

The Platform may link to or integrate with third-party services (for example, payment apps for parent-caregiver payments, background-check providers, and email providers). Stoop is not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties; review their policies before using them.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate the "Last updated" date above and, where significant, notify you through the Platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
